KING jvmes and J. R aim to keep that North Carolina tradition alive with their latest offering "The Outliers." Released through the MGNTK imprint these two artists chef up a delicious appetizer for loyal and new fans alike anticipating their next course. The six track EP features production from Logic Marselis, Illien Rosewell, LexSoDope, and Mars McKinns. The drum heavy boom bap driven "Sams Theme" starts off with a movie clip from the cult classic "Fresh", followed by KING jvmes who weaves through the soundscapes with a polished verse comparing life as a game of chess, weaved in with how he feels at his age feeling stuck while all of his peers have moved on. KING jvmes feels like his dreams have been deferred, but that doesn't stop him from rapping. J. R follows with an intricate rhyme structure and complex multi-schemes closing his verse with "balancing his dreams so they won't become a casualty." "2nd Round of Beer" will make any hip hop purist salivate as LexSoDope flips MF DOOM's "One Beer" beautifully. Both artists effortlessly do the track justice, flexing their lyrical skills as if the productions canvas is Muscle Beach. The two also touch on modern day issues in the world from the current president to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. J.R and KING jvmes are a perfect match with a Red Pill and Verbal Kent vibe. Expect more from these two in the future, but for the time being keep "The Outliers" on repeat for your listening pleasure.
